Starting Salary                                   : Minimum  Guinea Francs (GNF) 44 780 889 to Maximum Guinea Francs (GNF) 54 100 191 Per annum based on qualifications and experience, excluding benefits.  Fringe benefits are payable according to prevailing rules as set out in the Conditions of Service.

The South African Embassy in Conakry seeks to employ a qualified individual with the required experiences.

Requirements:

  • A relevant post-school qualification plus three (5) years’ experience in as Translator from English to French and vice versa.
  • Relevant computer proficiency especially in MS Excel
  • Must have knowledge of Revenue online Services for payroll purposes.
  • High level or organisational skills
  • Communication – English both verbal and written.
  • Good interpersonal, teamwork, problem solving and networking skills.
  • Negotiation skills and management of contracts
  • Guinean National or Permanent Resident or Foreign National with relevant government approvals
  • Police clearance(s) certificate from country of origin and if resident over one (1) year in current country of residence
  • Valid Driver licence (Added advantage)
  • Diplomacy and networking
  • Efficient agility in conducting activities /work.
  • Computer literacy (Software and hardware) Ms Office Suite of programmes such as MS Word and use of Internet search
  • Basic skills of translating French to English
  • Sense of urgency

Responsibilities:

Successful candidate will be required among others to perform the following:

  • The candidate should be able to translate texts from English to French and vice versa and do interpretation.
  • Be able to identify trends and relevant issues which influence or could have an effect on South Africa and Guinea in the political, economic and social sectors of society.
  • Support the mission in compiling , translating and disseminating information on South Africa and its image in all sectors.
  • Create and update social media content.
  • Ability to liaise with media representatives, printed and electronic, would be an added advantage.
  • Be able to travel when required.
  • News bulletin compiled weekly.
  • Provide administration support to the Embassy
  • Assist with the Embassy events when required
  • Ad-hoc duties in line with the Embassy’s operational requirements

Applicants who not Guinean Citizens must be in possession of all the documentation required by the Guinea authorities to perform full-time work.  The Embassy will not be responsible for sponsorship/arranging any documentation regarding working/remaining in Guinea and all applicants will be checked for this criterion.  The Embassy will not be responsible for any travel related cost.
